The Borough of South Plainfield is seeking a qualified candidate to carry out the duties and responsibility of Plumbing SubCode Official in accordance with the State Uniform Construction Code. The candidate must possess a valid Plumbing SubCode Official License and a Plumbing HHS Level License issued by the N.J. Department of Community Affairs. Duties consist of reviewing plans, carrying out field inspections and office interaction with the Public. Candidates with multiple licenses a plus. Salary based on qualification and experience. Qualifications and Education Requirements: Possession of a Fire Protection Inspector License (ICS) HHS issued by the NJ Department of Community Affairs.
Job Description: Under direction, the Fire Protection Inspector reviews, plans, and performs fire protection work involved in the enforcement of the State Uniform Construction Code, the fire protection subcode, and relevant fire protection laws within the concerned jurisdictions; does other related tasks:

Knowledge of current fire safety codes and firefighting procedures

Inspects and evaluates work in construction projects to ensure that all work and materials installed conform to approved plans and the fire protection subcode of the UCC and relevant fire protection laws/regulations.

Presents and explains fire code requirements and fire prevention information to engineers and construction workers
Preferred Skills:

knowledge of the organization and content of Uniform Construction Code regulations and of the organization and content of the fire protection subcode

Knowledge of classification of structures into class categories

Ability to analyze and interpret the Uniform Constuction Code; examine and approve plans for residential and small commercial structures; carry out field inspection activities for structures in class I and II

Wall Township - P/M/B/E/F Inspector - PT (8-19-26)
The Township seeks qualified Building, Fire Protection, Electric. Plumbing and Mechanical inspectors. Cherry Hill Township - Plumb. Inspector - FT/PT (8-14-26)
Is seeking qualified candidates to fill an immediate opening for full-time or part-time Licensed Plumbing Inspector. All applicants must possess a valid Plumbing Inspector license and any other applicable UCC Inspector license issued by the State of New Jersey. A minimum of two (2) years of experience in municipal plumbing inspection required, preferably in a large municipality. Responsibilities include but are not limited to: Inspecting new and existing residential, commercial, and industrial buildings and structures to enforce compliance with applicable building codes and approved plans/specifications; Issuing permits, notices of non-compliance, stop-work orders, or written recommendations to Code Official when necessary. Qualifications: Knowledge of methods used to conduct plumbing inspections, familiarity with plumbing installation techniques, fixtures and fixture requirements, ability to review and interpret plumbing plans and related documentation for UCC compliance, excellent interpersonal skills, and strong written and verbal communication skills. Sparta Township is seeking a qualified candidate for a part-time licensed Fire Sub-Code Official, 2 to 3 days a week. Under the direction of the Construction Official, candidate will perform plan review and inspections in compliance with the NJ UCC and Fire Protection Subcode.
